British School at Athens
Two directions for the next website.
A working prototype. Two voices — one editorial, one cinematic. Both designed for the desk and the hand. Open either. Scroll, use the menus, walk History, Research and the Fitch Laboratory.
The question
Which voice should the School have online?
The next site must serve scholars who already know the BSA, and welcome someone who has never been to Souedias Street. These two options take that from opposite ends. Both can be built. Home, History, Research and the Fitch Laboratory are complete in each — on a laptop and in the pocket.
01
Institutional
The voice of 1886 — not a generic university template.
02
Reachable
History, facilities and programmes within a few gestures — including the phone.
03
Able to grow
A system, so the rest of the site can be designed in the same hand.
In the hand
Two different phones. Same School.
Open this page on your phone, or tap a device. Option 1 is a journal cover you hold. Option 2 is a film you step into. Neither is a shrunk desktop.
The directions
Open one. Then the other.

Option 01 · Editorial
Knowledge that endures
Type-led, museum pacing. A full-screen menu. History as chapters. Research as a catalogue. On the phone: a journal cover, then rooms you swipe.

Option 02 · Cinematic
An Institute for Advanced Research
Photography leads. Facilities as a film strip. A year spine for History. Research as project cards. On the phone: cinema, then a dark menu.
